About Me

Amanda at Glacier National Park

I am an instructional designer and educator with 10 years of experience in higher education. I value learner-centered design that is accessible to all users, intuitive to navigate, and engaging to learners through multimodal delivery formats. I strive to be flexible to new technologies and best practices in instructional design.

I moved to Colorado in 2005 from central New York, earning my MA English in 2010 from University of Colorado Denver. I have taught English composition since 2008, but I did not teach my first online class until 2012. I became interested in instructional design as a teacher in an effort to improve my own students’ online learning experiences. I am interested in exploring integration of pedagogical strategies such as service learning in a digital learning environment; educational trends that promote learner success such as open educational resources (OER); and effective engagement of learners via accessible Web 2.0 technologies. I completed a second graduate degree in learning design and technology in 2019. When I am not teaching or designing, I am found spending time with my family, playing piano, or crocheting.

My Pageturners logo reflects my desire to create an aesthetically-engaging, “page-turning” learner experience that is structured upon a sound academic foundation.
